Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity are proud to introduce our Heart of the Community accreditation scheme and invite you to apply.

This scheme is designed to reward and recognise schools and colleges like yours which have taken part in our Restart a Heart campaign.

The Heart of the Community accreditation provides externally visible evidence of your school’s commitment to providing life-saving skills and ensuring the safety of students and the wider community in the event of a cardiac arrest. There are three tiers of accreditation allowing your school/college to progress through the tiers as you achieve more of the evidence requirements.

Progression through the tiers of the accreditation demonstrate how your school has:

  • made significant efforts to equip their students with life-saving skills through Restart a Heart training, visiting speakers/instructors or involvement in the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Restart a Heart Ambassador Programme
  • ensured the safety of your students and the wider community by providing access to defibrillators which are registered, easily located and highly visible/accessible·
  • developed and implemented programmes to support the education of the wider community·
  • generated and encouraged an interest in CPR and first aid through a student first aid club.
